BC's coastal fjords rise to spectacular mountain ranges that give way to cascading rivers and lush, fertile valleys, dramatically illustrating the region's unique beauty and providing a magnificent backdrop for bear viewing.
Invigorate your senses as you watch foraging black bears, grizzlies and Kermode bears splashing wildly in the icy, green water pursuing spawning Salmon while Eagle cries and deep throated Raven calls herald in the feast. Where salmon spawn and the spring sedge grass grows . . . there will be ravenous coastal bears enjoying a meal!
Wildlife Boat Charters invites you to join us aboard our 50' Trawler yacht for bear viewing eco tours to magnificent coastal British Columbia. During our tours we will share our knowledge of, and respect for, these awesome creatures.
The mighty Grizzly, Black Bear and Kermode, the unique BC Spirit Bear, converge upon BC coastal valley bottoms early each year and begin foraging upon spring vegetation, tidal sea life, berries and small terrestrial prey. As summer days grow shorter an air of urgent finality prevails and the bears gorge themselves, fattening for winter upon the returning Pacific Coast Salmon.
Bear viewing is at its best at a Salmon river during spawning time. In addition to the bears many other feathered or furred creatures also seek to feast upon the life sustaining, nutrient rich, returning Pacific Salmon before winter settles in. For the bears the Salmon will supply the necessary layer of insulating fat (needed for hibernation) and enrich the sow's milk needed to sustain and develop the blind, helpless cubs birthed in the matriarchal den during the winter.
Enjoy watching Bears from the comforts of our Mother ship or explore the river estuaries and shorelines by kayak and guided Zodiac, land-based vehicles or viewing platforms. Wildlife Charters offers adventurous travelers guided tours that maintain a respectful and safe distance from foraging bears.
The mode of the bear viewing adventure tours will be dependent on the seasonal variables of bear viewing and your vacation schedule. The Captain and crew are trained and certified in Bear Awareness, First Aid and Swift water Rescue to ensure your safety.
Come enjoy an experience of a lifetime on our comfortable, professionally equipped 50' West Coast Trawler, MV Kum-Bah-Yah.
